One thing I have noticed over my many years of practice is the reticence of professionals to admit they have reached the point at which they can no longer work.  Note that I did not use the words “disabled” or “disability.”  Those words have become such negative, judgment-based words.  No one wants to be disabled and no one wants to be known as being disabled.  So, I try to focus on the truth of the situation- the client can no longer work.  Accepting this hard truth is difficult for anyone.  In the case of a professional, it is more so.

This understandable.  There is typically years of education, post-graduate work, continued training and all the related costs of the effort.  Then there is the effort to establish and maintain a productive practice.  A professional will never casually admit he or she can no longer practice.  I know I wouldn’t.

Short Term Disability Orlando Over the years, so many spouses of professionals have come to me over the years for counsel about their husband or wife refusing to admit what is apparent to everyone else.  The consternation experienced by the concerned spouse and the disabled professional is to be expected.  The spouse is concerned that the professional is making things worse by continuing to worsen.  The professional simply does not want to let go.  These situations are times when I call on my skills as a Counselor at Law to walk my clients through these difficult times, explaining how the law will affect their lives going forward.  One thing I can promise is that I have been on just about every horizon disability claims can present.  If you have questions about your claim is headed, while I have no crystal ball, I can give you state-of-the-art counsel.
